A member asked:

I have severe sciatica pain not responding medically. recent mri shows severe central canal stenosis, l4-l5 level. surgery options, laser vs. knife?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Recommend norml surg: In my opinion the laminectomy may be the best option. Although it is not normally helpful for pain, it should help in a case of central canal stenosis, which often causes pain and weakness over time. I would not recommend the laser surgery.
