how effective is the malibu pilates chair at toning?

Great: I recommend the pilate chair to my patients more for when they need additional stretching of tight joints.  It works great.  I does help with tone as well, but i would recommend an excercise that adds some joint loading to help with muscle development and bone quality (as long as you don't suffer from arthritis). Can be: If your back problems are not neurological then pilates can be a great way to recondition your back and abdominal muscles to provide the strength needed for your back. It is also good for stretching the muscles and giving the back the upright support it needs. You should be sure you have a licensed instructor and ask your doctor if it is appropriate for you.

Consult...: With a personal trainer. They will be able to help alter your exercise routine to focus on your personal goals. They also will be able to progress your current routine to make it more difficult. Best of luck!

i am pressed for time daily and i can't seem to be able to pull of a 30 minutes pilates/yoga/cardio routine all at once. can i split my exercise sessions throughout the day?

: Exercise should be done at a sitting for at least 20 minutes to gain Cardiovascular benefit. But if you absolutely cant then you can split it. Some exercise is better than none.

Well...: Sounds like you have tried most. you need a low impact exercise regimen, so I would try YOGA again. Maybe it would help to get treated for your pain so you can at least do light YOGA exercises.  Best wishes.

Exercise and pregnan: Exercise is appropriate through out pregnancy and needs to be modified for comfort and to prevent injury as pregnancy progresses. Gentle is best!

why is it so difficult to get back into physical activity ex: pilates after a long time of no structured exercise ? it's so much strain and tiring !

Out of shape: If u haven't been active recently w/ daily  exercise it may take some time ( couple of weeks) for your aerobic capacity to improve to the point where it becomes more"easy" for you. Be patient and try to exercise @ least 20-25 min . 3-4 days / wk for the next month. If u can maintain this regimen or even increase the # or duration of your workouts u will find them "easier" .... And more fun!

After Bunion Surgery: Your level or types of exercise depends on which bunion procedure is done and your healing progress. You should discuss your exercise program with your surgeon so you will better understand when you can return to your level of exercise.

i do strength training exercise five days a week and yoga and pilates the other two days, can i return 6 weeks after my hernia surgery?

Yes, take it slow: You should be fine, it is recommended that you wait a least 4 weeks before exercising. I think 6 weeks is fantastic. The best way to get back into your normal exercise routine is to start slowly and gradually increase both intensity and duration, remember that it also depends on how you are feeling and that you should go at your own pace but start out slow and steady.

what pilates exercises should i avoid if 3 months out from an umbilical hernia repair and a rectocele repair? what would be the best exercises for me?

Hernia: No restrictions 3 months after umbilical her is repair are necessary. The rectocele repair however may still warrant activity restriction, and you should check with your surgeon for that. Hope this helps!
