Many!: French fries, white bread, cake, cookies, all sweets, baked potato, buns, beer (not light), sweet wine, skim milk, etc.  The number of foods makes it a nightmare!

Glycemic index: Berries, cherries, apples and pears are all "low glycemic index" forms of fruit. They are also nutrient dense and must still be balanced out with heart healthy protein foods such as nuts.  Combining a starch with a higher protein food can slow the uptake of simple sugars and reduce the glycemic load. If you are a diabetic be very careful with portion size. Even low glycemic foods can inc glucose.

when i do go, it's a pencil thickness, 2-3 inches, soft, and happens once every 2-3 weeks. my stomach has enlarged and i've lost 37# since june. (now november) diabetic for 15 yrs controlled by diet alone. no diet change, high fiber, 15 g carbs/ meal?

Fiber/Carbohydrates: Dietary fiber (roughage) is the indigestible portion of food derived from plants & animal wastes. Carbohydrates are organic compounds made of carbon, hydrogen & oxygen, & are rich in starch & sugar.

i had constipation and after straining there was bright red blood on my toilet paper could the constipation be caused by me eating fruit and fiber and then eating a lot of carbohydrates and that cancelling out the fiber or is that wrong and i see doc?

Rectal blood: Rectal blood is abnormal and requires investigation as to cause. However, in your case if the blood was bright red, on the toilet paper and not mixed in with the stool, you can be reasonably certain of a benign cause like straining for a BM. To avoid constipation, drink adequate fluids daily and include adequate amounts  of fiber in your diet daily. If bleeding recurs, see your MD for examination.

ALL CARBS HAVE: Calories, some more than others. The more complex a carb is, the more energy your body needs to burn to absorb the calories, so you will net less calories with the more complex carbs.

Several!: It is good self-nutritional support to know these points!  first, carbs are all carbohydrates, including sugar and fiber. Usually, the non-sugar carbs, after subtracting fiber, are starch. Net carbs are total carbs, minus fiber, both soluble and insoluble. Some foods may contain sugar alcohols, which have little impact on Insulin secretion, and therefore, do not act like carbs.

Carbs in oat bran: From a brief Web search, it looks like the content is similar, i.e., approximately 3 to 4 grams of carbohydrate per tablespoon.  When you read the label on the side of a container, be sure to note the volume.  E.g., if it says 48 grams of carbohydrate in one cup, that is 3 grams per tablespoon (16 tablespoons in one cup).
