Lanap: Unfortunately the company tied the procedure (lanap) with the purchase of a proprietary laser. Yes the laser cost is cost prohibitive for most general dentists. We have been following developments of other companies who will allow this procedure to be performed less expensively.

Waterpick -LANAP use: The purpose of lanap is to heal the periodontal pockets. Disruption of the clot formed by the laser is detrimental to long term healing. Therefore, the best you can do is let the area heal without disturbing it for the first few weeks. I don't suggest that therapy until the gingival fibers are matured and well-established.

Usually hopeless: You really should discuss this with your own dentist.  However,  when bone is lost between the root of a multi-rooted tooth, one does not have enough surrounding bone to help fill the defect, regardless of the type of surgery performed.  This situation is usually hopeless and can only be maintained, a root resected off, or extract the tooth.  There are no procedures with consistent good results.

VERY UNLIKELY!: Lanap is a laser assisted periodontal /gum surgery normally is geared towards removal of  infected gum tissues around the neck of the teeth, ; only down to the tip of the crestal jaw bone, then letting the gum heal to create new attachments ; get tight around teeth on its own. It is very unusual to be able to include bone graft.(not adequate access !) get a 2nd opinion ; ask for clear explanations.

LANAP Case selection: LANAP protocol results are much more predictable in terms of bone regeneration and tissue attachment. Laser treatment is a great option for many periodontal patients; however, it may not be suited for all cases. The case selection is the key to a successful treatment.

On the dentist's end, the equipment involves a huge capital investment and additional training. Consider a second opinion.

For healthy diet: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/., exercise 30 minutes/day, drink enough water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs.

Seek second opinion: Gum grafting does not always help solve the problem that you might have. I would advice you to seek a second opinion from another periodontist before you get into doing this procedure which does not have a high success rate and it tends to be an expensive exercise. That is what I would recommend and then weight the various options based on the two opinions.
