Knee replacements: Total knee replacements have traditionally been cemented on the femoral and tibial sides, but non-cemented versions are becoming more attractive for surgeons. Solid fixation to bone is paramount with non-cemented components. Cement is necessary if this is not achieved. In your case, the femoral component was likely well fixed, but tibial component likely required cement to ensure good fixation

Yes: Replacing the entire femur can be done, but it is rarely needed.  Only patients with extensive cancer or many failed operations on the femur, might need it replaced completely.

Varies: It varies based upon the type of femoral neck fracture you had and type of surgery used to fix it.  For example, in a displaced femoral neck fracture we often do a cemented hemi arthriplastyband you can begin walking on it that day.  In a fracture fixed with screws, weight bearing is based in part on the quality of bone purchase noted intra operatively.  Discuss with your surgeon.

i've had knee replacement surgery almost 6 years ago and had trouble with it locking on me when i bend it and with severe pain. the x-ray shows soft tissue calcification anterior to distal femoral metaphysis. is this caused by the knee replacement?

: I doubt if the calcifications are due to the knee replacement.

Maybe: This decision is best made by your own orthopedist who has direct access to your x rays. A second opinion never hurts. In someone so young, if you can get away with something short of a total joint replacement, it is always preferable to do so.

Yes: If you are asking if general anesthesia could potentially have adverse affects on your pregnancy and your unborn baby, then the answer is yes.  So in general pregnant women should avoid surgery unless it absolutely must be done.

Possible: Clicking after replacement is generally a function of the patella either jumping off the femoral component or impingeing agaist it but usually decreases after some time.

Get informed well: Removal of your knee area bones means having to adjust to an artificial knee joint. For this you should plan/ learn how to get rehabilitated after the surgery is over you will need strong muscles to get you thru this journey and be able to start walking normally again.You should exercise/walk to strengthen your muscles around the knee ...The quads and hamstring(back thigh) muscles. Good luck!

my knee is stiff it will not bend or straighten out form knee replacement i wear brace but it wont help i must have revision or arthroscopy also pt?

See a Doc: If your knee is stiff and will not bend normally after a total knee replacement, you should see the doctor who operated on you. Sometimes it may be necessary to do something called a manipulation under anesthesia to break up scar tissue that may have formed to improve the range of motion. A brace will not help you get the range of motion back.
