how do you fix a kink in your intestine?

Caution...: Not sure what you are referring to as a "kink" but when doctors use this term they are usually describing a redundant colon or large intestine.  This means there are more folds or twists in the colon than normal.  Another type of "kink" might mean there are adhesions in the abdomen causing fixation of the intestine.  This frequently comes to light after a difficult colonoscopy exam.

Nothing: Unless you are having symptoms of bowel obstruction. Usually the kink is due to prior abdominal surgery and adhesions. The obstruction can be partial, intermittent or complete, the latter usually requiring surgical correction and the former two usual respond to bowel rest in the hospital for 1-3 days.

during pelvic surgery they saw a kink in my large intestine. would adhesions be visible if they were the cause? what else could be cause?

Adhesions are seen: If thisisthe first operative procedure then no adhesions to be expected.  On  the otherhand excess bowel , especially in the sigmoid colon can result in a twist or kink known as volvulus.  Did kink get resolved by the surgeon.  Intussecption can also  occur and look like kink if intraluminal lesion present.

what do i do if i suspect a kink in my large intestine? i am unable to have a bowel movement and have severe stomach cramps. thank you?

: Pain in the abdomen/stomach can be caused by any number of reasons, some are serious. If the pain has persisted for more than 1 to 2 hours, you should contact your PCP or go to an ER in a hospital nearby.
A surgeon needs to examine you and consider imaging / X-rays to check your bowels, Gall bladder and appendix for a possible surgical emergency.

Uncertain cause: It's unclear why some people are prone to episodes of intussusception. It's possible that a low fiber diet is promoting dysmotility or making it difficult for the colon to transit stool.  Consider increasing the fiber content of your diet by eating a pound of vegetables and fruits a day and transitioning some/most of your proteins to beans and grains, for longevity and improved colon health.

Barium enems: Capsule endoscopy is contraindicated and not allowed if intessessuption is suspected. They will try to reduced it by using barium enema pressure with a good success or surgery which could be done lapsrosopically

Possible: Full, history of prior surgery and conditions are relevant to risks of new operations.
The hostile abdomen with prior operations, adhesions, short bowel, and other scarring is higher risk!

i have irregular bowel movements all the time. this has been going on for years. my doctors have done the usual checks and given laxatives but nothing works long-term. i think i have a tear or kink in my colon, how do i get this sorted please advise?

: You may take a fiber laxative like Metamucil and drink enough water daily so that your urine is colorless. For the long term you may try to increase your intake of fiber foods. Consult this site for fiber foods.

Some people say loopy if they see a longer intestine (colon) with more wiggly turns that the average colon has. If a person is told he has a loopy intestine, he should ask his doctor if the loopiness could be causing any symptoms, or it's just the way his colon looks.

Depends: Intussuception can be treated by using a hydrostatic enema with xray or ultrasound guidance. Sometimes surgery is needed.
