good afternoon - i currently have mumps virus and have been to the doctor, but i also have gotten some staph infections in my nose and under my arms. i have nasepetin and fucidin, is there anything else i can do to help with the staph.  ?

Mupirocin alt: Continue the creams as prescribed three times daily. Leave time for each to absorb prior to the next application of cream. Cleanse the skin well and avoid irritation to the area. Monitor for fever and cough. Please follow up with your PCP.

9 months ago i was prescribed 2% fucidin ointment to use inside my nose for a boil.
i stopped using it because i noticed spider veins and discoloration on my nose. the skin hasn't improved since and is bruising easily, what should i do?

Rosacea: I doubt that the fucidin caused the skin condition of your nose. Instead it may be a form of rosacea because of redness, thinning and visible veins on your nose. Sunlight, wind, Spicey foods and alcohol can play a role in the development of rosacea. A dermatologist can evaluate and advise you about your nasal appearance.

why does fucidin topical have a warning label that says do not put in nose, eyes or mouth? what would happen if you used fucidin in any of these areas?

Fucidin: Fucidin is a topical cream for the skin that is an acidic compound.  Use in the mouth, ears or nose would cause severe irritation. It is  advisable not to touch those areas. until you have washed your hands, especially if there is any infection in the area you applied it to.
You could spread the infections.

hotel sheets had dried blood spots on them (2 total). i noticed after i had them over my face / touched my lips and inside of my nose. not sure if the dried blood spots touched lips/inside nose. am i at risk of infections?

: No risk for blood transmitted infections, HIV or hepatitis, would have bedding replaced, letting manager know. Ironic that it happens during/following a pandemic and when all hotels are claiming their cleaning procedures are better than ever.

flu test few days ago with swab inside my nose. nose still feels sensitive. could that swab cause an infection in my nose or am i worrying too much?

Accepted Answer

Possible: Probably just sill irritated, however a safe thing to do would be to get a bacitracin or polysporin cream and place in the nostril 2 or 3 times per day. The ointment will protect the area and help the irritation to heal if you do have an infection it would be the best first thing to do! Hope that helps!

E coli in nose: E coli is a colon bacterium.  It can cause infection in any body space or tissue.  To get into the nose, it has to arrive by a finger or by nose rubbing a coliform carrying site.....I suppose a dirty towel could carry E coli into the nostril if rubbed just right.  But infection in the nose by this creature is very rare.

Nasal sprays/M.D.: Sinusitis may take weeks to resolve and require more than one course of antibiotics. Nasal irrigation with nasal saline rinses and nasal steroid sprays may lessen the time to recovery. Monitor your temperature and reporting continued symptoms and report fever to your physician. Yes, possible: While rare, infections in this area should not be taken lightly. The 'danger triangle' of the face consists of the area from the corners of the mouth to the bridge of nose. Due to the special nature of the blood supply to the nose , it is possible (although very rare) for retrograde infections from the nasal area to spread to the brain.

Not likely: Probably not ,  staph is  present every on  the  skin.  Ask your  md  about the possible cause of your infection.
