What causes ecoli infection in the nose?

E coli in nose: E coli is a colon bacterium. It can cause infection in any body space or tissue. To get into the nose, it has to arrive by a finger or by nose rubbing a coliform carrying site.....I suppose a dirty towel could carry E coli into the nostril if rubbed just right. But infection in the nose by this creature is very rare.

Not a usual issue: E coli is present in the feces and the organisms are present in tap water in small numbers. E coli does not usually cause infection in the nose.
