Depends what type of: exercising you are doing? High intensity, triathlon, marathon,  or short burst, walking, running, sprinting? If you are a long, term high intensity runner, triathlon, you need to have more calories (carbs) before hand to not burn up (or consume) your muscles as fuel instead of the carbs. If you just do mild exercising (nothing long distance), it will be safer. Moderation is key!

Weight loss ?'s: First, do any cardio exercise AFTER doing 45 minutes of walking (about 3.4 mph, without shortness of breath) at least 3x weekly, or your metabolism will not function on aerobic pathways, only on anaerobic.  Be scrupulous on not adding carbs to calorie intake, avoid alcohol, and do not eat within two hours of bedtime.  This takes time, so be patient.

If all other factors: Remained the same and calories burned exceeded calories consumed you would lose weight. But without dietary changes you would lose at a very slow pace.

Cardio Mix: If you have adipose tissue to lose (not everyone does), then consider an increase in cardio and a balanced diet. However, do not always do the same exercise or you will increase your risks for stress injuries. Mix things up with walking, running, biking, swimming, or circuit training. Ultimately you need to burn more than you consume.

Calorie cycling: When calorie cycling does it make sense to lose wt on high and gain in low? ANS: I am not certain what calorie cycling means up there? Bicycling to. Burn calories? If yes on high days you should lose weight. If eating diff Cal on diff days then will depend on many things such as sodium content of diet. Better to do the DASH if goal to lose weight. No: By skipping meals, your body will go into a starvation type of slow metabolism that will make it harder to lose weight.  More frequent small meals, cutting back on calories,  coupled with vigorous exercise is the key to losing weight.  If you eat 750 calories less than you burn each day you should lose 1-1/2 pounds per week.

Exercise: Start slow with 15 minutes of walking every day, and add a minute every day after two weeks. What are your goals? Consider a trainer.
Fitness is a combination of cardio, strength and flexibility. For weight loss it should be an hour a day.

Exercise: Recommend that calories burned exceed calories in. Drinking at least 8  8 ounce glasses per day is important for both hydration and weight control. Try to get in whole foods (fiber) as well as 5 servings of vegetables and 4 servings of fruit per day. Physical activity is essential. At least 8 hours of sleep per night helps.  Aim for at least 30 minutes of aerobic activity at least 5 days per week
