can you help me understand my us report? "there is trace free fluid in pelvis. suspected 0.9x0.3cm echogenic nodule identified in endometrial cavity with trace free fluid, likely endometrial polyp versus intracavitary fibroid. neoplasm not excluded."

Accepted Answer

: The ultrasound report identifies a mass consistent with either a fibroid tumor or a polyp  (benign "neoplasms") which may be the reason the ultrasound was ordered, as both may cause bleeding between menstrual events.  See your GYN physician who ordered the ultrasound for guidance.  "Free fluid" in the abdominal cavity is a frequent and essentially normal finding.

my pelvic us showed a simple cyst on ovary & a 0.9x0.3cm echogenic lobulated mass, likely representing endometrial polyp vs. intracavitary fibroid with trace free fluid. is it possible the polyp is cancerous? my pcp ordered a stat referral gynecology?

Accepted Answer

: "Fibroids" or polyps are rarely malignant, but may cause intermittent bleeding. A GYN physician can provide guidance, and may recommend surgical removal and biopsy.  A "simple" ovarian cyst, as opposed to a complex one will usually resolve on its own.

is the presence of slippery/stretchy cervical mucus hormone related? assuming infection ruled out. or can the cervix randomly secrete this thin mucus like fluid independant of hormone involvement?

Accepted Answer

: This is caused by increased estrogen levels in the absence of significant progesterone levels. Since this typically occurs as ovulation approaches, and since sperm survival is enhanced when this mucus is present, its presence can be used to either help avoid pregnancy or facilitate conception.

At your age,: this is most likely a benign hemorrhagic cyst, but it needs to be followed up with your gyn and probably follow up ultrasounds to see if it resolves.

Unlikely : It's very unlikely the ovarian cyst is causing inflammation in the ileum.

can a hearing specialist (ent) literally see, (with mri's) the presence of inner ear fluid buildup that may result in the diagnosis meniere's disease?

Accepted Answer

Would be unique: In most cases, the lower strength mri's in the range of 1.5 t, would not have the clarity or resolution to sort out.  However, a higher field strength MRI in the range of 3.0 t or even higher, might distinguish such changes.

Possibly: Vomiting bile. You may wish to get this medically evaluated.

Many possibilities: How old is the person? In a newborn, it could be normal drainage. In an adult, could be an infection.  It could also be retained fluid from a shower or bath.

Remove salt: Generally speaking, the best use of diuretics is not in fact to remove fluid, but rather to remove salt. In patients with conditions like congestive heart failure, the body is unable to remove enough salt on its own. Since water follows low-salt, a buildup of fluid occurs. This is why it is generally also important to maintain a low salt diet in these conditions.

Clear: It should be clear. If the baby passes meconium into the amniotic sac prior to delivery-it can add additional color.
