Major Pain-Red Flag?: In most people, a significant increase in pain could indicate worsening infection.  In people being treated for oral infections, a significant increase in pain despite being treated with antibiotics may indicate a location of infection that the antibiotic cannot reach (a tooth abscess, for example). These should be drained by a health profession (physician, dentist, etc.)

Fix it: Don't travel w/ a tooth ache. Once you get on a plane, the pressure changes can increase the severity of the pain.
Get the diagnosis of the pains cause, and have it treated before you go to india!
you don't want your trip ruined by neglecting to see a dentist.
I highly recommend an endodontist!

See your doctor: Tooth pain usually caused by infection that is mainly dental cares or infection around the tooth that can affect the gingiva or the bones, causing either local infection or can spread elsewhere
There are different regimens for antibiotic treatment that including amoxicillin + metronidazole or amoxicellin-clavulonic acid  etc.
I suggest you visit your doctor to revise your antibiotic precscription

sever tooth pain that had a root canal done 7 years ago, i think its an infection, but i cant see an endodontist until next week, i have a full course of amoxicillin that was given to me before, is it ok to start it, so infection does not go bra?

Antibiotic will help: Before you take Amoxicillin make sure that it is not expired.In addition you can also take pain medication from over the counter which you have taken earlier to make sure it does agree with your health You can check with your primary Doctor over phone that the pain medication you want to take is not contra indicated for your health..

Don't self medicate: Your dentist, after evaluating your condition, will give you a prescription for the proper antibiotics and dosage. You don't even know if you have an abscess... Antibiotics are not painkillers.

i am on day 3 of 5 day amoxicillin course (500mg x 3 daily). dentist couldn't see me  so prescribed based on what i described over the phone (sore wisdom tooth) i'm terrified of c diff. can't stop thinking about it. what are my chances of getting it?

C diff: Your chances are very, very small. No need to be terrified. The wisdom tooth infection needs to be treated and antibiotics are the way to do it. Not treating the infection can allow it to expand and cause more serious medical problems, and in the end higher and longer doses of antibiotics to control the infection.

tooth extraction 6 days ago. very sore gums and inside the socket looks like a canker sore. any suggestions what this might be? on amoxicillin.

Consult you dentist: The tissue inside the socket is probably granulation tissue. If the dentist gave you an antibiotic this probably means the area was infected at the time of extraction. It is advisable to keep in close contact with the dentist/surgeon until the area heals.

Antibiotic: I assume the red area under your tongue is in proximity to the infected tooth.  Whether or not it is, area should be evaluated by your Dentist.  Antibiotic will not cure tooth infection, only reduce the spread of infection until tooth can receive root canal treatment or extraction.  If not, when pills run out infection will come roaring back.  Please call your Dentist now.
