what type of cereal should i start my 6 month old on as her first solid?

Iron Fortified: Iron fortified cereal are best.  Many infants are at risk for iron deficiency anemia at this stage as milk alone does does not generally provide enough milk.  Gerber, Earth's Best and other brands sell fortified wheat, barley, rice and oats.  Sometimes the cereals come fruit flavored.  Start slow and always on a spoon.  Have fun with introducing new foods to your baby!

Diaper rash: Local irritation and a diaper rash may have been due to the change in her diet. Rice cereal for babies is fortified with iron and an important part of her diet. Other alternatives may include mashed vegetables, baby oatmeal and brown rice cereal. 
Apply local diaper cream with changes, keep the area clean and dry and please follow up with your pediatrician. Watch for signs of peeling and blisters.

Severe eczema: Weeping rash in this young age should be seen in an office and best to see ur pediatrician and ask for a referral to a dermatologist. Also they now have blood tests for allergen testing so you do not have to wait for the baby tog et older for skin testing to see what measures will help with the eczema.

my 6 month old baby has been throwing up phlegm all day. no fever at all. he is breastfed and has started cereal 3 days ago. could this be the cause? he seems his usual self except he just keeps throwing up quite often. when is it cause for concern?

Cereal and phlegm: If the spitting up started after cereal introduced that could be the cause or just trying to handle secretions.

Bad habits: A baby should be taught to eat waking up, and never when going to bed. Cereal in the bottle has never produced a proven benefit on university study. If you teach a baby to include eating as a bedtime ritual, expect 4X the number of sleep issues than those without.

Possible yeast: Sounds like your youngster might have  a yeast infection sometimes caused thrush or candidiasis. Typically causes white cottage cheesy looking spots on the inner cheeks or tongue. The corners of the mouth is a common area  for it to occur while teething as it is always wet from extra drooling and yeast loves warm, moist spots and so is chief culprit in diaper rash as well. No general rx: Appetite in a kid usually represents their state of health &amp; pattern of growth. There is no "stimulant" advised at this age. Some growth happens in spurts &amp; their feeding follows the peaks &amp; lows of the rate. If you feel she is to slow gaining weight have her evaluated to see if there is a medical problem.

we are trying to do the food allergy test on my 6 month old but he won't eat any of the vegetables we've tried.   what do i do?

Keep trying: A 6 month old really does not know what they like and dislike.  Some children do not take to certain foods, while others seem to take to all of them.  One technique is to give the child the same food for a week.  In particular, try the vegetables first, and avoid the fruits, as they are much sweeter.
