Last FMS?: When was your last full mouth series of radiographs? If it was within the last three to five years, usually checkup x-rays are taken, therefore, if the dentist wants to make sure that everything is ok, in terms of decay and periodontal status it is a good idea.

Yes: There are special mouthgaurds for patients undergoing orthodontic treatment. Ask you dentist which one would work for you.

Mouth guards: Your mouth guard should be attempting to reduce or eliminate joint sounds however if your disc (s) were locked and are going back into place.  Then it is an improvement.   Hopefully you had a comprehensive exam and joint diagnosis prior to splint therapy. If so you should return to your doctor and have your splint adjusted.  I prefer day and night splints 24/7.

Jaw muscle awareness: A dentist would be able to discuss whether the molar ligaments will tighten over time. To avoid clinching, be mindful of your jaw and mouth position during your daily activities. For example, when driving, working, cooking, etc., hold your mouth slightly open so that your lips do not touch.  Tell yourself &quot;mouth open, teeth apart.&quot; About chewing gum and ice.

my implant crown fell off yesterday (thursday) and i can't get in to see my dentist until late tuesday. my question is how do i properly take care of the screw that is sticking out of my gum until then? and my mouth in general until then?

Allergy ?: You may be allergic to the medication. It would be prudent to be tested by an allergist for your sensitivity to the amoxicillin. What might be a minor reaction now could be anaphylactic shock the next time you take it. Your body appears to be telling you something.

Shouldn't matter: Your bruxism guard should not block your airway. Is this a professionally made appliace from your dentist, or is it store bought? If it is not a custom appliance from your dentist, have one made.

Keep on trying : A custom made moth guard is more comfortable that one that you buy in a store or online.  These can be adjusted. See your dentist for this.
Sometimes it takes just wearing it, keeping it in your mouth, to get used to it. Determination to get used to it can be the most important thing if you have a well fitting mouth guard.

how can i get rid of oral thrush from my mouth guard?

Clean It: There are some commercail denture cleaning agents available that may be effective in the removal of the candida responsible for the thrush.  Another option would be to soak your mouth guard in a solution of one part bleach diuted with ten parts of water.  Be sure to rinse your mouth guard well with water after soaking it before wearing it.
