Shouldn't matter: Your bruxism guard should not block your airway. Is this a professionally made appliace from your dentist, or is it store bought? If it is not a custom appliance from your dentist, have one made.

No: If i understand your question / concern-- your guard covers your teeth so you feel that prevents air from contacting your teeth? The reason teeth may have a "dull" feeling is sometimes due to plaque accumulation. When you brush your teething in the morning, after you have removed the guard, do they still feel "dull"? If they still do, then see your dentist.

Not related: The surface of your teeth will not be affected by the amount of air that they are exposed to. You may feel a difference in enamel integrity due to a build-up of plaque or tarter on your teeth. That's a hygiene issue. Return to the practitioner who made the appliance and review status and oral hygiene. If it's an OTC appliance it can be doing more harm than good.
