Activity post gb sur: I would avoid heavy lifting or strenuous activity for at least a few weeks.  Any activity causing pain should be avoided.  Otherwise, most aerobic exercise should be ok.  No reason to take bile salts after gall bladder surgery.  Your body will continue to produce its normal bile.

Until Pain Subsides: After gallbladder surgery, you may feel bloated and your incisions will be sore to touch. Anything that increases pressure in your abdomen (changing position from sitting to standing, lifting, etc.) will cause discomfort. You can lie on your stomach if it doesn't cause pain, but be careful not to get up or turn suddenly. Follow your surgeon's instructions about activity and pain meds.

Mgt: You are correct that the use of steroids may delay wound healing. At a lower dose, this is less likely to happen. Keep a close watch on the wound, and i would suggest the use of a combined inhaler, Singulair, combined with a rescue inhaler, if this can keep your Asthma under control. If not, the lowest oral dose of Prednisone is advisable.

About a week: If done minimally invasively you should expect to be back to work in about a week on average. I have had patients go back to work a early as 2 days after surgery. If done open, big incision, expect to be laid up for much longer.

Gradually: These small scars usually slowly become lighter in color and softer over 3-6 months. Can also try some of the drug store medications for scars like "mederma" or "neosporin scar" for example.

Alcohol consumption: In moderate amounts should not interfere with healing or digestion after gallbladder surgery.  If you have other GI problems such as excess acid, gerd, ulcer, or liver disease, alcohol would be bad even without the gallbladder operation.

See below: Usually about 4 to 6 weeks before you can do all heavy activities or heavy exercises. Over the first 1 to 2 weeks after surgery, start increasing light activities such as walking or treadmill if ok with your surgeon.

Be patient : If it is early post surgery, that kind of pain can be due to some fluid or a small amount of blood in the surgical area.  If so this will clear up.  The tests you had should eliminate the more serious post operative problems, such as pulmonary embolism , bile leak or bike duct injury.  As always, if the pain persists, go see your surgeon again.

i had a hole in my bowel and a ulcer and my galbladder was removed i was in surgery for 4 hours i have 25 staples how long dose my staples stay in?

Your surgeon will: determine how long the staples need to stay in place. Usually 10 to 14 days but it is variable depending on your clinical condition and body build. Ask when you go in for your next post operative visit.
