Gradually: These small scars usually slowly become lighter in color and softer over 3-6 months. Can also try some of the drug store medications for scars like "mederma" or "neosporin scar" for example.

About a week: If done minimally invasively you should expect to be back to work in about a week on average. I have had patients go back to work a early as 2 days after surgery. If done open, big incision, expect to be laid up for much longer.

How long off work after gall bladder surgery?

Open or laparascopic: After a laparoscopic gall bladder removal, returning to work can happen in just a few days if all goes well. Open surgery (cholecystectomy) takes much longer to recover from. This assumes an elective operation with no infection before or after the procedure!
