after taking my first clindamycin last night, my tooth pain level skyrocketed. tylenol (acetaminophen) barely helped and i couldn't sleep. normal? or should i switch?

Your toothache: If you are still in pain this morning and you could not sleep last night, call your dentist. They may need to see you or want to change your meds.

on clindamycin 300 mg every 8 hrs for abscess tooth and face swelling for two days and now have a really sore throat on side of abscess?! normal?!?

Absolutely NOT: Though Clindamycin can help with acute infection, it takes time. Increased swelling is an immediate health risk--especially if causing difficulty swallowing or soreness in the throat. Sore throat could be swollen lymph nodes, but could also indicate a spread of the infection. Recommend you seek immediate attention with your dentist or emergency room if s/he is unavailable.

fatigue, bruising, pain .. wbc 14.1, neutrophils 8.8 and lymphocytes 4.1.  i had a sore tooth and just finished 10 days of clindamycin.  is this ok?

Antibiotics: Antibiotics will not cure an infected tooth, just limit the spread of infection.  Tooth probably requires root canal/crown or extraction/implant/crown.  Now that you  are off the Clindamycin infection will return.  Please see your Dentist before you have to repeat the antibiotic cycle again.

Surgery for ?: I'll assume the surgery is unrelated to the toothache. You should do 2 things asap. First, discuss what you can and can't do with the doctor performing the surgery. Secondly, at least see a dentist right away to determine the cause of the toothache ; hopefully treat it before the surgery. Antibiotics are used to treat infections ; dental treatment might not require or respond to antibiotics!

probably not: Cipro (ciprofloxacin) is not normally used for toothache relief. If there is an infection, an exam by a dentist is necessary to evaluate and diagnose. There are better antibiotics to use.  Do not self medicate with antibiotics used for other conditions.

If you need it..: Cipro (ciprofloxacin) is an antibiotic and could be used for a toothache, like any other antibiotic.
But...Do you need the antibiotic.  If you just have a hole that is causing pain then you just need to get the hole fixed.  The problem that people are having today is that many docs used to just give antibiotics for any reason.  Now people are getting poorer results when they are needed.  Choose your useage  wisely.

can i take diclaflam and brufen i have terrible tooth ache and brufen is all that seems to help. how much brufen is ok.

Diclaflam &amp; Brufen: Both are NSAIDs that will temporarily help with your pain. You really need to be seen ASAP by a dentist. The tooth may be infected which would also require an antibiotic. The sooner you call for an appointment the sooner you will feel better.

i took 2 extra strength excedrin 3 hours ago, but the pain is back and worse than before (tooth ache). the dosage says i can't take more for 3 more ho?

Better Idea: Get that tooth evaluated ASAP. Long holiday weekend coming up. The severe pain can become unbearable pain in a very short time. The tooth obviously needs attention, and now. All the best...
