how can i address persistent severe earache ( from about september last year). resulting in middle ear infection often. i have severe hay fever - but the earache is recent. anri histamines are no longer working, drinking sinicons and pain meds 3 time?

Cilodex Ear Drops : An examination of your E.N.T (Ear,Nose,Throat) system is needed , so that we can determine if it's your sinuses that are causing the ear infection. You need to be get Flomist spray,Loratadine 10mg at night and Cilodex ear drops - 4 drops in the affected ear twice daily.

Depends: With treatment, i generally see the fever come down in the first 24-36 hrs on the penicillin family of meds and 48-72 hrs with a cephalosporin.   This assumes the ear infection is the only issue. If no response within that time frame, there could be a resistant germ that requires a different drug.

Have him rechecked: Fever associated with acute otitis media is generally dissipated after 2 days of antibiotic treatment.  Persistent fever suggests the possibility of antibiotic resistant bacteria.

Hard to say: There are a lot of reasons why your baby has a fever. You do not say that he is cranky or pulling on his ears, so there are no symptoms to suggest an ear infection. It would be best to have your pediatrician evaluate the baby to identify the cause of the fever--if possible

Maybe/not: At 38 C I would consider it as little chance for a true problem infection. I would not consider it enough to need any treatment at all as most minor fever increases circulation &amp; allows natural healing factors to reach the problem/fix it quicker. If the kid develops ear pain, a 39 C fever I would consider it more likely to be an ear infection or other issue needing treatment.

What have you done?: Has your baby been seen by its doctor?  Is it still pulling at the ear? What medication is it taking?  If has been treated by a doctor and continues with fever for three days, depending upon what else is going on you may want to bring baby back and have them re-examined.

Expected response: Once you have a diagnosis and start treatment with this antibiotic, I expect the temperature to trend down within 36 hrs.It man not be fully normal for another day or so.If not, the germ may be a resistant one and you should call the doc.

Allergy to amox?: It is unlikely for the vaccines given at one year to cause hives. allergy to Amoxicillin may cause hives after a course was given(if this was the first time in her life. Please double check with her pediatrician

Patience: The typical reactive lymph node will increase/decrease in size over a 3 week cycle.I would not expect it to fade to resting size so quickly.
