: Almost certainly you do not have HIV, which does not cause weight loss as the only symptom. However, the rapid tests miss 2-4% of HIV infections. For 100% proof you do not have HIV, have a lab-based blood test.

i had a oraquick hiv 1/2 oral test done two days ago. the results were negative. how accurate are those results? last exposure four years ago.

Pretty accurate: According to cdc site, "in the clinical studies by the manufacturer, the oraquick oral fluid test correctly identified 99.3% of people who were infected with HIV (sensitivity) and 99.8 % of people who were not infected with HIV (specificity)." of course, if you have symptoms of viral illness or characteristic opportunistic infections, get the standard blood test for confirmation or denial.

i took a oraquick at home hiv test that you buy from drugstore 6 years after possible exposure. is that too long after to take it? i did two of them to be extra sure, if that matters. both negative.

Never too late: It is never too late to check for HIV after a possible exposure. Good that it is negative.

Unclear question: When were you last tested for hiv? It can take up to a year for antibody tests to turn positive. If you have any doubt, please see your doctor and get tested. Do not delay testing because you may be afraid. Early treatment is better for controlling the infection.

11 years: If you were exposed 11 years ago without any subsequent potential exposure, and you have been tested and negative three times, move on with your life.  Be well informed of safer sexual practices, and if sexually active, get tested regularly for peace of mind.

: Most people infected with HIV for that long would have symptoms and would be seriously ill; some would have died of AIDS. But WBC counts say nothing at all about whether or not someone has HIV. An HIV test is necessary. Don't waste time on anything else:  get tested.

Not HIV: The tests for HIV are among the most accurate diagnostic tests ever developed, for any medical condition. Therefore, test results always overrule symptoms, exposure history, or anything else. And of course weight loss, fatigue, etc are common to innumerable medical conditions besides HIV/AIDS (and HIV doesn't cause low testoserone). Your test results prove HIV is not the cause of these problems.

Yes.: All three seroconvert (show detectable antibodies) in a few weeks; six months at the very longest.  You're fine.

Generally none...: While some people infected with HIV for one year might have some symptoms (possibly mildly enlarged lymph glands and feeling tired), many people would be complete without symptoms.  They could be infected without knowing and could pass the virus to others without knowing.

why do some people say it take one year up to two year for hiv to be detected on a test that i have to keep on testing till the test is positive? i have tested up to 10 months from exposure?

: "Some people" who say anything like this don't know what they're talking about, do not understand when they actually became infected, or otherwise are just plain wrong, maybe intentionally untruthful. All standard HIV blood tests are 100% conclusive within 3 months of the last exposure; the most commonly used blood tests (AgAb, i.e. "4th generation") are conclusive at 45 days.
