A member asked:

I took a oraquick at home hiv test that you buy from drugstore 6 years after possible exposure. is that too long after to take it? i did two of them to be extra sure, if that matters. both negative.

Never too late: It is never too late to check for HIV after a possible exposure. Good that it is negative.

HIV: It is never too long or too late to get tested if you had a possible exposure to HIV and want to know if you contracted the disease. It can however be too early for some people if they test too soon after an exposure to catch the virus before it becomes apparent on usual blood screening tests.
