Polymyalgia rheumati: Go see your doctor. You may be describing common arthritis, bulging disk, peripheral artery disease. Or you may have polymyalgia rheumatica (http://www.Mayoclinic.Com/health/polymyalgia-rheumatica/ds00441). Many other possibilities all of which require examination & evaluation in person.

whenever i try to use the treadmill or go for a long walk i get hip pain. is this normal?

Accepted Answer

Pain is never: normal.  I suspect that you have some form of degenerative musculo-skeletal disease, such as arthritis.  But it could be something less common, such as tumor, so it would be best to get a medical evaluation.  Try otc anti-inflammatory such as ibuprofen to alleviate the pain.

what can cause spasms in the hips? if you are walking on the treadmill at a fast pace. at 4.5 speed  in  fat burning mode on the treadmill ?

Spasms: Please see your doc to rule out medical conditions.  It is likely the speed or angle of the treadmill if it only happens there.  In general, low magnesium can cause muscle spasms however.  Ask your doc about a lower carb and higher protein food plan.  That can burn the fat.  Peace and good health.

how normal would it be for my hip joints to hurt after walking/jogging on the treadmill?

It can happen: Walking or jogging on treadmill is weight bearing exercise puts stress on hips and may cause pain, may be because you may have to alter the way you walk or jogg on the treadmill.Also there may be over extension of hips which may conribue to the pain, if it happens you have to slow down and try not over extend the hips on treadmill and slow the pace and gradually condition your self.If persist seemd.

i had a second si joint injection. i am having weakness in that hip. i can't walk normally on one side. the dr said it will be okin2hr but 4 hrs..not!

Wait: I'd give it more time, and wait it out overnight.  In most cases the symptoms will completely resolve by then.  If not, definitely call your doctor again.  Good luck!

55 yof. i have intermittent stabbing pain in front of left hip. sometimes right also. i walk incline treadmill every day. how would i recognize hip versus ovarian pain? it happens so sporadic and so brief its hard to pin down.

: An exam will be needed in order to pinpoint possible cause or causes, best with your doc who will have access to your medical history. There are features that may suggest possible origin, unreliable specifically when pain has mixed origin. Keep a log with the pain, activities prior to onset, factors that may relieve the pain, duration, etc. Tests may be needed.

Yes: You can have a herniated disc with normal plain x-rays.  Get seen and dont suffer.

: You should see a neurologist or spine surgeon as soon as possible. This may be just muscle spasm or inflammation but if you do have a herniated disk with nerve or spinal cord compression it is an emergency. Go to an ER if you do not have a physician to call. An MRI will show whether this is a disk herniation and then treatment options can be considered.

i am 54 and i have a spinal stenosis of 5mm. it is becoming more difficult to use the right leg. i get cramps, major weakness, hip goes out and can hardly walk. what shouldi do?

Accepted Answer

Stenosis: Unfortunately, medications, manipulation and therapy may improve symptoms, however the pathology will continue to worsen. If you are having neurologic issues of weakness etc, you should be seen by a neurosurgeon or orthopedist with spinal training for eval before things worsen.
