You should see a neurologist or spine surgeon as soon as possible. This may be just muscle spasm or inflammation but if you do have a herniated disk with nerve or spinal cord compression it is an emergency. Go to an ER if you do not have a physician to call. An MRI will show whether this is a disk herniation and then treatment options can be considered.

If you already have a disc herniation, you may have further torn the annulus fibrosis, causing further rupture. You need to notify your physician, as at the level of the lower spinal cord, there is a bladder risk, besides potential weakness, numbness and pain. However, a significant question involves spinal stability, and therefore, relatively emergent attention is indicated.
