i am getting a deep gum cleaning. i get a regular cleaning every 3 months, but a periodontist saw more calculus than would be typical for less than 3 months since my last will there be a lot of blood from this? will it hurt? what is the recovery like?

: Usually does not hurt. May get blood depending on state of gingiva. Recommend flossing.

i'm saving for my 2nd scaling and planning but whats the best prescription for a calculus/tarter infection to help out until i can afford the overpriced $1,300.00 gum work?... i can taste the tarter 24/7, been 4 years of being ignored?

: I agree with you that dental care is too expensive and unaffordable for the majority of the population. Try to find if there is a free clinic in your area. There is usually one at a Dental school. Wish you well

tooth 30 horizontal ricegrain size chip at inside gum line, i have calculus line along that tooth, the chip is not a hole its solid on inside. how to fi?

See your dentist: See your dentist who can go over the options. Without personally seeing you and an x-ray of the tooth, we can't properly advise you. It could require a bonded composite filling or a crown.

: IF YOUR SO WORRIED HAVE YOUR PERIODONTIST CLEAN YOUR TEETH. A DEEP CLEANING IS NO DIFFERENT THAN WHAT YOUR PERIODONTIST HAS BEEN DOING. BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT PRACTICING GOOD ORAL HYGIENE AND HAVE MORE CALCULUS THAN EXPECTED THAN HE FEELS LET YOUR OWN DENTIST CLEAN YOUR TEETH. IT WILL BE CHEAPER AND SAME INVOLVEMENT.

bottom gums swelled and stayed after cleaning. were fine before. some is calculus. but the rest i don't know. purple looking vein under a couple teeth?

Toothache: Give it a few days. Try some ibuprofen for pain and inflammation if you can take it.  Rinse 3 times daily with warm salt water. If you continue to have pain, call your doctor for evaluation.  It sounds like you might have had needed a pretty good cleaning or had a deep cleaning. It isn't uncommon to be sore if you had a lot of calculus build up.

i have had an infection in my gums for 4 now... i lost my taste buds during this time. how can i figure out if im tasting pus, tarter or calculus? tomorrow is my 2nd n last scaling and route planning at 8 30am battling evil evil heavy fatigue?

: If you lost your taste buds than you can't taste anything, even the things you mentioned. If you are on antibiotics or any other medications than your taste buds could be effected. The enhanced treatment your receiving should restore your taste buds and cure the infection and provide good oral health, as long as you follow home care instructions.

That's a new one.: I suspect that more people with tonsilloliths would chew sugar free gum if that was the case.

Swollen Gums...: ... Are most likely due to periodontal inflammation and not to any of your other symptoms. Have your physician examine you to see what is causing your gastrointestinal distress.

what does it mean when your gums are easily scraped up by hard foods?

Gingivits: Most common cause is gingivitis. See your dentist. Other causes can be malnutrion, vitamin deficiency, etc.

what causes the end part of my gums upper and lower to be painfull makes me harder to eat. why?

See your dentist: If your gums are so sore that you have trouble eating and you aren't experiencing fever, rash or malaise , you most likely have advanced periodontal disease. You must see your dentist and possibly a periodontist . This condition can become serious so don't  put it off.
