Toothache: Give it a few days. Try some ibuprofen for pain and inflammation if you can take it. Rinse 3 times daily with warm salt water. If you continue to have pain, call your doctor for evaluation. It sounds like you might have had needed a pretty good cleaning or had a deep cleaning. It isn't uncommon to be sore if you had a lot of calculus build up.

Swollen gums: Calculus (tarter) can do permanent damage to gums/bone. If you perceive permanent changes in your gum tissues it's time to see a gum specialist, a Periodontist for an evaluation. Purple "vein" may or may not be normal anatomy. A Periodontist is your best source of information about this.

Deep Scaling: It sounds more like a deep scaling than a periodic "cleaning" or prophylaxis. Basically that was a minor surgical procedure and it takes time for the gums to heal (just like after any surgical procedure). What I would do is gently but thoroughly and properly brush and floss, even if the gums are sore or bleed slightly. Each day should get better until fully healed in about 2 weeks. If not see DDS.

See below: See your dentist for scaling and root planing to remove additional calculus which is probably under the gums and causing the discoloration of the gums to appear darker. Once the calculus is removed and the gingiva has healed, you can be re-evaluated for possible additional periodontal therapy, such as antibiotic placement or possible surgery.Make sure your home care is optimal have frequent recall
