Oral Mg replacement : You need to know how low your serum magnesium level is. Normal level is 1.5 to 2.5 and if your level is close to 1, you will likely need a total of a gram 500 mg twice daily or 400 mg three times daily for two weeks. Check your Mg level and adjust replacement accordingly

Nuts are good: Nuts are rich in magnesium. You can search the net for others. But, you will find some that may make you gain undesirable weight like rice. So, if you are low on magnesium (by a blood test) take a magnesium pill over the counter daily and make sure your doc will follow up on blood levels. Taking much magnesium without supervision may cause heart problem.If constipated milk of magnesia (magnesium hydroxide) can fix both.

Will take time: The body serves as a huge reservoir for electrolytes like magnesium and sustained increased blood levels require filing of that reservoir. In the ICU we sometimes will administer 10 grams or more a day intravenously with minimal change in blood levels. Partly because a lot goes right back out in the urine. Sources include blueberries dark chocolate leafy greens &amp; almonds but it will take time.
