A flexible partial denture looks similar but has custom fitted clasps made out of a special type of material that can tolerate some bending. These are intended for longer term wear and may have no metal at all.

Flipper question: Is it in an area for looks? If so you may want to wear to look good.  If in a non looks area you may be able to not wear it.  Either way just call your dentist and ask.  You should be given a yes or no and a why.

Yes, they do: Over time, teeth can shift. No reason the RPD should do more harm than good, unless it doesn't fit properly or meticulous oral hygiene is not maintained. Have you considered dental implants as a replacement for your missing teeth?
