Yes: Depending upon the expertise of the dentist as well as the quality of the lab technician, the fit and comfort may vary but one generally can eat adequately with a flipper. They come in both hard acrylic with metal clasps and flexible ones with pink clasps. Be aware, flippers are a quick inexpensive tooth replacement and only meant to be a temporary fix.

Depends: The term dental flipper is usually used to describe a temporary partial denture. Depending on how many teeth are being replaced you may or may not be able to eat with a flipper.

Yes: Yes you are able to eat with a flipper but in a limited degree because they do not have the proper function, strength & retentive features of a cast partial

Not well: A flipper is an esthetic space maintainer. It's not intended to take the place of a fully functional restoration such as an implant/crown.

Not ideal: a "flipper" is a term that usually describes a temporary device that is mostly for looks while waiting for a more long term solution. There are options that can restore both esthetics and function which your dentist can provide after a diagnosis and treatment plan visit.
