No: Status by definition involves repetitive seizures without regaining awareness or consciousness between events. Your episode would include the aura, the seizure itself, and a post-ictal sequence, and your 30 min time frame is unlikely to have been continual seizure activity. However, your first seizure needs attention, and decisions regarding treatment will be needed.

Q: diagnosed with pots last nov. today, i had a seizure (first time), was given aspirin by emts (still not sure why) had vt. is this normal with pots?

No.: A ventricular arrhythmia would be unusual with POTS. you need further evaluation from a cardiologist and then a neurologist.

Yes: Febrile seizures do tend to recur (30% chance after first episode). There is a 50% chance of recurrence if the child is less than age 1. After two febrile seizures the recurrence risk is 50%. Other factors that increase recurrence are family history of seizures, a complex febrile seizure (>15minutes or focal/one sided), daycare, duration of fever <24 hours, and fever 38 to 39 degrees celcius.

Q: should i worry about hypnic jerks? they still happen to me occasionally, & the first time it happened, i thought it was a seizure. is it fine?

Myoclonic jerks: Not unique to have myoclonic jerks as you are falling asleep, but if this awakens you at night, nocturnal myoclonus, or paroxysmal limb movements of sleep, which is a variant of restless leg syndrome, is a sleep disorder which might well benefit from therapy. Your description is more characteristic of a benign condition which is normal and common.

Needs neurological v: A complete neurological check up is advised to find out the cause of seizure. Most times the cause is not obvious and medication takes care of controlling seizures. occasionally there can be an underlying serious cause in the brain. So a brain MRI is done to make sure that there is no growth or mass in the brain which could have been the cause. It is of low likelihood.

Risk factors: There are no warnings for a first time seizure. There are risk factors: difficult or complicated maternal labor, low apgar scores at birth, febrile seizures as a child, meningitis, encephalitis, head injury with loss of consciousness or loss of memory to name a few.  Auras are commonly viewed as a warning that a seizure is about to happen. In fact they are actually simple partial seizures.

Focal in withdrawal: Withdrawal symptoms come if high doses stopped suddenly. Symptoms are extreme fatigue, abnormal behavior and depression. Seizures could be too associated . See his doctor

: Review what you drank/smoked that night.  Discuss with Dr. after that. YOur body is talking to you. Listen and take good notes and share with Dr you all can figure it out if YOU listen go your body. Dr cannot feel what you are feeling.

cause of first time seizure today? mom had covid 2 months ago, given remdesivir, history of high cholestoral, mini strokes. doctors found nothing on ct scan and bloodwork. has been taking magnesium, fish oil, red yeast rice, garlic pills, vitamins?

: MRI is more detailed it may show a new stroke when CT does not. Stroke even past or any brain injury can be a source. Get  blood work and check on mg ,calcium potassium phosphate levels. Would also stop all supplements at this time.  EEG   especially if 24-72  hours  would show location of  seizure .  Need to distinguish non epileptic from epileptic F/u /w/ neurology.

possible for my 6y child to suffer from a first time febrile seizure early on in pneumonia?

Yes: A common definition includes development of a brief <5min seizure that occurs in kids 6m-6yr associated with rapid rise of temperature. A common scene is a child found shaking & parents realizing they were febrile when they pick them up. More details would be needed to properly label the event but it could occur.
