Risk factors: There are no warnings for a first time seizure. There are risk factors: difficult or complicated maternal labor, low apgar scores at birth, febrile seizures as a child, meningitis, encephalitis, head injury with loss of consciousness or loss of memory to name a few. Auras are commonly viewed as a warning that a seizure is about to happen. In fact they are actually simple partial seizures.

Not really: Most seizures occur without warning and there are no warning signs. People who may be at risk for having a seizure may have no warning signs, and sometimes they may not even have a seizure. It is not likely there will be a seizure unless there is something that is irritating the surface of the brain.
