If a detachment has progressed far enough, central vision will be affected. Shallow detachments may give you a sensation of cloudy vision. A significant detachment will be as if a veil or shade is blocking your vision. If you have concerns, see your ophthalmologist immediately.

Semi-open eyes: when sleeping will interfere w/the quality of sleep.  Please see your doc.  Perhaps there is an issue w/your eyelids.  You can also discuss liquid tear drops.  If the dryness is more generalized than in your eyes, he/she will tell you about that also.  Peace and good health.

Protect good eye: Retina detachment is a serious eye condition. The causes can be trauma, inherited conditions,  and age related to name a few.  Your goal should be to protect the good eye by: 1) protect good eye with break resistant eyeglasses  2) avoid elective surgery of good eye 3) find cause of detachment and take steps to prevent it in good eye. The color change in bad eye is likely related to degeneration.

White pupils: Leukocoria refers to white pupils which can be due to tumor, retinal detachment, changes from ROP.  The combination of retinal detachment and leukocoria, regardless of the ROP, requires specialized evaluation for retinoblastoma as 50 percent of infants with leukocoria will have this malignancy.

: An ophthalmologist that specializes in diseases of the retina can examine this area and tell you how extensive the tear might be. It is possible that an area like this can detach and cause bothersome symptoms not to mention possible loss of vision. You should see an ophthalmologist.

Depends : If you just saw him for a glaucoma checkup, then he probably would not have seen any peripheral retinal issues. So call him &amp; indicate your symptoms to him. If he did not perform a dilated eye exam at your last visit, then you will need one now to rule out any retinal tears.

rubbed my eye and now i blink and see light. i see fine but the light doesn't go away. is this a flashing of light? my retina is thin but always ok.

Glare: What you may be experiencing as you call "light" could be glare from an irregular corneal surface. If you rubbed your eyes and the surface of your cornea got roughened,  this can cause glare as light passes through the irregular surface. I would recommend using artificial tears, a warm compress and resting the eyes. If the symptoms persist or get worse, then see an eye care provider. Good luck!
