Epiduo-Acutane: Be patient and be sure to cleanse your face with a mild cleanser and moisturize at least twice daily.Please allow the Accutane time to work and help treat your acne.  Epiduo will only contribute to extra drying and irritate your skin. Dermatologists advise against the use of Epiduo while using Accutane.

why am i still breaking out after i have been on acutane for six months? i am currently using epiduo but is there anything else i can do to help?

It takes time: I know how you feel, you were told Accutane is the miracle drug that makes acne vanish but a look in the mirror makes it unconvincing. The truth is it takes some time. Depending on the dosage you are taking (20mg/40mg, etc) the amount of time will vary. I personally took 20mg once daily and broke out for about 5 and a half months after starting. 7 months in i would have no more than 2 pimples/month.

I wouldn't: Accutane is a drug with significant side effects &amp; risks. It should only be used with specific forms of treatment resistant  acne under close supervision &amp; monitoring.  Epiduo is a reasonable basic treatment. Recommendations can only be made in conjunction with in person evaluation of the person involved for the condition of their skin at the time.

i am not sure how this works but i would like to discuss my problem with acne. i have seen multiple dermatologist and have not been happy with the results. i am currently on doxycycline and i use a benzoyl peroxide wash with epiduo and an over the counter spot treatment. i have spoke with my dr and he thinks i would be a great candidate for accutane. he wants me to go to another dermatologist but i thought i would try this first.

Be persistent: Acne is a chronic condition that is typically not "fixed" in a short time. It requires persistence and the diligent application/taking of medication, and lifestyle changes, as well as adjustments as certain meds fail to work over the long run. Accutane is a very strong medication that has significant risks &amp; side effects. It should be used only as a last resort and for cystic lesions only

Not Recommended: Safety of taking once daily dosing with Accutane has not been established.So once daily dosing is not recommended

Hard to tell: Epiduo is a combination of Adapalene (the drug in differin (adapalene)) and benzoyl peroxide (a common over-the-counter acne drug). Retrieve is tretinoin (the drug in retin-a), so it would be similar to differin (adapalene). So, epiduo may have an advantage in that it includes benzoyl peroxide, which has some bacterial-killing ability. One can try one drug on the left face, and the other on the right face, to compare.

A week: You have to give it at least a week. Keeps the new lesions for occurring, doesn't treat the lesions that are already there as well.

Accepted Answer

Epiduo: You should see some results in two to four weeks, but expect two the three months to see the full effect.  Remember acne is not a disease but a response to hormones on the hair follicle/oil gland complex.  The goal is therefore control and not cure.

hello i'm in tears right now after reading horror stories of ppl on acutane. nothing has worked for me i'm on it now 10mg/pday . should i be worried?

No: Talk to your doctor about your concerns. Remember that people that have a good result are not as likely to write about it as those who had a bad one. Accutane is a serious medicine but it does work very well for many people. Don't go just by the horror stories. But do get more information from your doctor. Good luck!

severely broke out after trying new skincare products. i've been on accutanes and had success but will this reverse accutanes effect? do i go on again

Not acne.: A contact dermatitis from a new product, is not acne Or if you have a mild flare of acne because of it, stopping it may well stop the flare.  Wait and see what happens. Go back to your old skin care routine.  If it does not get better in a week or so, see your doc.
