do salivary gland tumors grow quickly? if you had one, would there just be only a little pinching feeling under chin but no swelling? could it go on for almost a year without getting worse? need help, scared for my 36 year old son who has this pinch?

Accepted Answer

: Instead of being scared and avoiding care, take him to be properly evaluated. Your son cannot be diagnosed used without proper history/examination/lab tests/imaging. Please see your Den test, who may then refer him on to an Oral Pathologist or Oral Surgeon for further evaluation. Hiding, not taking your son for care, is negligence.

i have been told that i may have a blocked salivary gland. i keep getring headaches only on that side of my head too. are these conected?

Accepted Answer

Two problems: While I can come up with very uncommon conditions that would connect the two problems, headaches are more commonly due to other problems.  Those problems can range from sinus infections to temporal-mandibular joint problems to a host of other issues.  See your physician who can examine you and evaluate the headaches

what can i do to unblock my salivary gland (below my right chin)?

Heat/massage: Gentle massage or milking of the gland, as well the application of warm compresses.  I also recommend the use of sialogogues. Those are substances that increase the production of saliva, like sour candies or lemon juice.

i woke up with a sort of double chin which is kind of lump in the area of the salivary gland. what could it be?

Infection?: Not clear whether the swelling is in midline or one side. Salivary glands in the neck can be inflammed , commonly by bacteria, sometimes viruses like mumps , though less common in adults . Sometimes the enlarged lymphnodes in that area can mimic saliv.Y glands. Also in addition to infection , stones in the ducts of saliv. Glands can make the swel  lings, which appear big after eating. See your pcppl.

Duration?: Likely a reactive lymph node. If persists another week, see ENT doc for assessment.

Enlarged gland: If on the neck it is not a salivary gland.  It's most probably a lymph gland.  Should be seen immediately to discover cause and appropriate cure.  If a lymph gland, yes, lymphoma is a possibility.  See your GP or an ENT for differential diagnosis.

Yes, you can: Submandibular gland in Submandibular triangle.

i have multiple lesions dealin with my salivary gland which is the parotid glands  n enlarge thyroid n nodule can those lesion be benign or malignant?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Your lesions can be either benign or malignant and it can be a difficult diagnosis even after removal. But some experts advise removal in either case since even benign growth can make surgery more risky later. The nerves in the area are important for eating, talking and - of course - your facial expressions and attractiveness. Find an ENT you trust to get this under control. Good luck.

how do you know if your salivary glands under your jaw are swollen? i have really bad health anxiety and i'm freaking out.. i can't tell if mine are swollen, they're not visible, and i don't know if they've like grown, or if its just in my head?

: If they were swollen to a size you would see and/or feel them or would have pain. From your description there is nothing wrong. Keep yourself busy, try to help people and then you would have less time to worry

i had surgery in 2018 to originally remove a lymphnode. turns out it was a badly infected salivary gland. no biopsy necessary according to surgeon. that lymph node has stayed enlarged since. its soft and moveable. what should i do about the node?

Accepted Answer

: The salivary gland after an infection can become blocked and dysfunctional.  Obtain a referral to an ENT physician for evaluation, as a biopsy may be necessary.
