Electrolytes Hydrate: Coconut water is a good source of potassium and other electrolytes and gives better hydration than water alone. Raw coconut water also has enzymes that may have (unproven) benefits. coconut oil- so many conflicting reports about health benefits. i wanted to incorporate in my diet - 1 or 2 tablespoons a day to help regulate me. i dont have a cholesterol problem nor want one.

Depends: If you want to take a supplement to regulate your bowels, I would recommend plant fiber over coconut oil.  As you mentioned, there are conflicting reports on health benefits.  In some ways, the benefits of coconut oil were over-hyped. There was a craze where people were using it for EVERYTHING! Now that the initial craze is over, there's not so much hype (as is the case with most diet fads).

Matcha green tea: There are some studies saying that it's high in antioxidants.  Does this mean that it's good for health?  Maybe.  The definitive studies would be a rct looking at improvement rates of diabetes, hypertension, increase length of life, etc.  I'm not sure if these studies have been done.  At the very least, matcha green tea won't hurt you.

what would be a good jogging pace for a 56 yr old man looking for cardiovascular health benefits? and how many miles per day?

Accepted Answer

Highly variable: Pace and distance are highly variable among runners, depending on their experience level, goals, desire, prior injuries/orthopedic conditions and conditioning level. I would recommend you start gradually, perhaps at a pace of 9-11 minutes per mile and 1-3 miles on non-consecutive days. You can increase your distance 10-20%/week and consider a goal of decreasing your pace/mile by 30 seconds/month.

Cell repair : The fasted state helps with repair/regeneration of cells etc and may assist with maintaining insulin sensitivity (reduced cardiovascular and diabetes risk).  Starts after about 12h post food.  May if have medical conditions however need to discuss with your GP first

: No. Marijuana is a psychoactive drug and will mess with your brain.
Tobacco and alcohol are legal yet harmful to a person's health.
Legal is not the same as safe.
Have a healthy diet, exercise 30 minutes/day, drink plenty of water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs. For nutrition: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/.

Green tea is: good for you.  It is picked earlier than black or red tea and thus has more potent antioxidents in it.  Some green tea is flavored w/peppermint or jasmine which is not a problem but it may lower the content of the actual green tea.  White tea is picked earliest and is even better than green tea.  It has a light flavor.  Peace and good health.

Product of greens: Chlorophyll is what gives plants the green pigment. As for health benefits I don't see any harm in taking it up as green leafy vegetables are high in minerals and nutrients. As for helping metabolism - it helps maintain plant metabolism as it is essential for phtosynthesis. Not sure it has much effects on humans,.
