It depends: If it is a superficial (i.e., 1st- or 2nd-degree) burn, it will heal on its own within 3 weeks. If it is a full-thickness (i.e., 3rd-degree) burn, it will only heal on its own from the sides if it is very small or narrow. Otherwise, a 3rd-degree burn would need to be skin-grafted. If the wound is not healed after 3 weeks of good wound care, see a general, plastic, or burn surgeon.

As a burn: This is a chemical burn and needs to be treated as such.  The early treatment is flushing the skin with water as you did.  Ice compresses will help with the swelling and an emollient ointment like vaseline will make the surface feel better.  The concern is secondary infection and scarring so a visit the a dermatologist would be in order.

Have patience: Your treatment was appropriate. You burned the skin and it will take time to heal. If the skin is not broken you might want to use a very mild soap to wash with and apply a hand cream with aloe to the appropriate area. Scarring may occur depending on how soon you gave your self the first aid treatment. If increasing redness and pain continues after a couple of days see your family physician.

Good wound care: If a burn is deep enough (third degree) it will scar no matter what.
Burns are classified according to the depth of tissue burnt. 
First degree- epidermis only
second degree- dermis 
superficial second degree is as name implies
deep second degree is more dangerous
third degree- goes thru dermis and into the fat layer.
It is important to do daily dressing changes with topical agents  (silvadene).

Stomache acid burns to the esophagus can lead to serious other diseases.

No: You may use an over the counter antibiotic cream like Neosporin to prevent infection.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

If you have no: known chronic medical issues at your age what you describe could certainly be a "Panic" situation.  However, before you assume that it would be wise to see your doctor and discuss this situation and the medical conditions it can mimic.
