I as carrying a car battery and got the battery acid on my hands i washed my hands with cool water and baking soda still burns what do i do ?

Have patience: Your treatment was appropriate. You burned the skin and it will take time to heal. If the skin is not broken you might want to use a very mild soap to wash with and apply a hand cream with aloe to the appropriate area. Scarring may occur depending on how soon you gave your self the first aid treatment. If increasing redness and pain continues after a couple of days see your family physician.

Be seen: This is a strong acid and if it isn't relieved by cold water over 15 minutes be seen in the ER for assessment. You may need special cream, dressings and close follow up. All the best. Your hands are important. You can also get sick by breathing the acid.
