If they have to go..: Usually we try to leave them alone but if there are some that are painful then your insurance usually pays to have them removed. Try not to go overboard on getting them cut out.

Same as w/any surger: Common issues are infection, bleeding & scarring. Less common would be nerve damage leading to (permanent) numbness in the surrounding area. Big picture perspective: most lipoma excisions are pretty low risk, at least compared to brain, heart & abdominal surgery.

Multiple lipomas: These are sometimes difficult to treat and minimize scars if there are multiple. Lipomas tend to be benign so luckily a large incision is often not required. Your best best is to be evaluated by a plastic or general surgeon with experience in removing multiple lipomas then follow a strict scar regimen after surgery to optimize the results!
