I would get biopsy: Although it may be a benign mole or wart, I would see your primary physician or dermatologist who will likely  recommend a shave or punch biopsy to get a definitive diagnosis.

Radiation an option: Radiation therapy is used quite extensively for head and neck cancers. The area covers nasopharynx, throat, tongue, lip.  Sometimes radiation therapy is done by itself, and at times in combination with other modalities like surgery and/or chemotherapy.

: It's difficult to answer this question because most people around this age already have senile dementia, more or less, and the severity can dramatically change in days or weeks.

Rarely  a Whipple: Only 10 % of patients with pancreatic head ca are candidates for a wipple.  Following this procedure the 2 year survival rate is about 10%.  A vaccine is now being developed to be given post surgery to prevent this problem of recurrence.

Effective like...: ...Curative? The answer would be surgery if the patient is fortunate enough to discover it early. Even then there is a good chance that it will come back. Chemo and radiation may control it for a while but very seldom for a long time. No cancer is &quot;good to have&quot; but pancreatic cancer is particularly virulent as a rule. Hope this is not about you.

i had a benign mengimoa 50 % removed then 28 treatments of radiation. can the radiation cause throat cancer or does it stay only in the head .

Exposed area: Radiation affects only the area exposed to radiation.If the throat area was not exposed to radiation, you do not have extra risk for throat cancer. Radiation for meningioma was likely confined to the head and throat should not be affected.

is it possible for someone who has had previous radiation (imrt) to the head and neck to have a total thyroidectomy to treat graves? the radiation was done fifteen years ago as adjuvant treatment for parotid cancer due to a positive surgical margin?

: It is possible but thyroid can be destroyed by intake of radioactive iodine, without the need for surgery. Talk to an endocrinologist for various treatment options.

It depends: There are several things that should alert you to seek medical attention. If the mole becomes asymmetric or boarders are irregular or changes color or diameter increase then a biopsy might be needed to rule out cancer. Other things to watch for include: pain, itching, bleeding, ulceration  or scaly appearance.

See a doctor: See a doctor to have the mole looked at.  If they are concerned, they will biopsy or send you to a dermatologist to look at.  The only way to know if it is cancerous or not is to biopsy and send to a lab for microscopic evaluation.

i need to have a cancerous mole removed on my arm or leg. could i opt out of anesthesia?

Accepted Answer

Usually yes: You can opt out of general anesthesia, and have just local anesthesia instead. 

If the tumor is larger than an inch, though, you probably want to have general anesthesia, especially if they need to take skin from somewhere else to close the wound.
