It depends: There are several things that should alert you to seek medical attention. If the mole becomes asymmetric or boarders are irregular or changes color or diameter increase then a biopsy might be needed to rule out cancer. Other things to watch for include: pain, itching, bleeding, ulceration or scaly appearance.

Have new ones checkd: Although changes in our skin are normal as we age, if u notice new changes that r concerning have them looked at by your regular doctor. Most benign skin changes are easy to identify by looking at them. Skin cancer identification is defined by the a, b, c's. A- asymmetric shape. B- borders that are irregular, c-color (multiple colors are concerning) there are some more features but these r basics.

You can't: But your dermatologist can. We usually use an abcde guideline: a means asymmetrical lesion, b, border irregularity, c, color changed, d, diameter larger than 6mm and e, elevated lesion. If all abcde shown on one particular lesion: the "mole" might be bad.
