Tread carefully: If you have multiple discs degenerating the best strategy is stay thin and learn about good core stabilization exercises.  Many people use anti-inflammatory medications when pain is an issue.

Yes: Pullups, if anything, would probably reduce stress and impact placed on your lumbar discs, given that they are stretched, not compressed.

Accepted Answer

Might help symptoms: Traction might be helpful for the pain associated with degenerative disc disease. It does nothing for the actual position of the disc and will not make the disc "go back in place".

Probably OK...: It is difficult to say with 100% certainty because I do not know what the 'abnomalities' are. However, it is not uncommon for the radiologist to report mild degenerative changes or other anatomical variants that are common for the sake of completeness in the radiological report. Most referring physicians extract the relevant clinical information for you, but it can't hurt to ask for clarification.

Yes/no: I was trained using hospital based lumbar traction, it did very little to help disc disease in that by the time we applied enough traction to help the patient they were at the foot of the bed and no force applied.Modern traction (drx 9000) can apply your body weight to a specific disc segment and really make a difference.At your age please look into this treatment.

i have disc degeneration, loss of height, protrusion,  spondylosis, disc bulge, mild stenosis on neck and lumbar. can i use an inversion table?

Conservative care: Yes, I believe that all people should exhaust and utilize all conservative measures for treatment of his or her back pain first, prior to discussing surgical intervention. I tell my patients that is it is helpful then it should definately be incorporated in your treatment plan. I have had many patients say that an inversion table has helped with their neck and low back pain.

cracking painful and swollen joints, neck pain, spine pain and lumbar back pain. recently visited chiropractor who did xray severe disc degeneration, scoliosis, loss of lumbar and neck curvature etc. who is the best specialist to see?

: You might consider a rheumatologist or a physiatrist as the main physician.  One potential therapeutic approach is to start with physical therapy and proceed to an exercise program.  If you are quite stiff and uncomfortable, you might commence with an exercise program in a warm pool.

Mri disc degeneratio: Both are correct as the findings are not conclusive.  The mild finding may or may not show the source of the pain

Depends on symptoms: There is no specific therapy for "disk degeneration" since many with this finding have no pain or symptoms. But some do and the treatment would depend on your specific symptoms and objective findings. Specific strengthening exercises, physical therapy, maintaining an ideal body weight and bone health, not smoking and positive thinking can be generally recommended.

Exercise: Exercise is the number 1 treatment for deg disease. Now once to have attempted this and if you still need more help then you can discuss medication with your doctor
