i believe i have an ovarian cyst, but i am not able to see my doctor for three weeks. i was curious if there was any way to ease the pain until then, or if i should go to an urgent care?

Can't give advice: without a diagnosis. What if it is not an ovarian cyst? you have to use your judgment: if you feel its an emergency go to urgent care, if not call your doctor's office again and ask if the appointment can be moved up. Good wishes.

day-3 ultrasound shown a 6.4cm by 4.3cm ovarian cyst. doctor said my estrogen level is 106 and so i can start clomid (clomiphene) 75mg. good to start? or wait?

I would not: start a patient of mine under these conditions, but your doctor may have  different approach with different reasoning. You should ask your doctor to clarify if you are uncomfortable with the decision to start.

i had a large ovarian cyst rupture about a week and half ago. i was in bad pain. ultrasound showed fluid. the pain is improving each day. little pain left in pelvic and hip. but much much better. do i need go back to doc or can i wait a little longer?

: See your GYN physician for an exam and further testing, and ask about low dose oral bcp's to reduce cyst formation and pre-menopausal estrogen withdrawal symptoms at age "42".

if im having pain from a ovarian cyst, does that mean it has possibly ruptured or leaking? i read most cysts are asymptomatic. im on the pill - low dose birth control. how long should wait to see doc? been hurting a couple days so far?

: Yes most are asymptomatic. The cause of pain may or may not be the cyst. You need to see your doc or Gyn now. hope you do well.

Pain is self limited: Even though the lain is severe the cause is benign. When the cyst ruptures, the swelling will decrease and the pain will lessen. Please call your doctor to report the severe pain.  They will be able to help.  Later, after your period if cysts persist your gyn can help prevent future episodes.

Depends: At 4 1/2 cm if it's a simple cyst, then it may not need to be operated on at all. At that size, many of these cysts do resolve on their own, considering, of course, that they are simple and filled with solely fluid.  Having said that, if the cyst is causing twisting of the ovary, if there's severe pain, then doctor might have other recommendations.

Cysts are normal: Normal ovarian cysts are cyclical and get to 2-3 cm every month.  That is a normal function in women until menopause.

Depends: It depends on the technique, and extent of the operation. In general, laparoscopic operations have less pain and recovery time compared to open operations. I usually tell patients to return to normal activity as tolerated by pain and discomfort. This is typically 1-4 weeks for laparoscopic gallbladder surgery. Ask you surgeon to find out about your case specifically.
