Depends: It depends on the technique, and extent of the operation. In general, laparoscopic operations have less pain and recovery time compared to open operations. I usually tell patients to return to normal activity as tolerated by pain and discomfort. This is typically 1-4 weeks for laparoscopic gallbladder surgery. Ask you surgeon to find out about your case specifically.

6 weeks : A laparoscopic operation or surgery using cameras can recover faster than operation with knife. But the inside organs still need 6 weeks minimum to reach good healing with collagen. 1 week after operation you can walk as much as you like but heavy lifting is limited to 5 pounds. No smoking. Eat healthy diet and focus on recovery. See your doctor for continued care.
