p.s:i have nafld and sgpt 64ui/l.is there a liver problem related to coagulation?

Unlikely: Liver disorders would prolong the clotting parameters, not shorten these. In fact the shorter times than normal are questionable.
It would be appropriate to discuss the results with the doctor who ordered the tests.

i take eliquis to prevent clots. my pt ptt inr were actually all three low for the first time. is this significant ? risk of. clot ?

Accepted Answer

: Eliquis' efficacy is not measured by blood tests including the ones you mentioned. However they can be prolonged during its peak effect which is 3 hours after taking a dose. I don't think you have to be concerned if your tests were low while on eliquis.  You are protected and, I believe, even with valvular AFib. Your personal Doc can advise you best,though.

No, see below: Hyper-clotting disorders can be inherited or acquired. Common tests for inherited hyper-clotting diseases include testing for antithrombin, protein C and S deficiencies, factor V leiden and prothrombin gene mutations. For acquired ones, tests may include antiphopholipid syndrome, myeloproliferative, PNH, etc.  Fibrinogen is reactive  and dysfibrinogenemia is rare for thrombosis, thus not included.

im on eliquis for clotting disorder. high risk. previous pe. why do i never bleed from gums nor after giving blood. it seems eliquis isnt working ? inr is 0.9 and pt ptt normal. ?

Accepted Answer

: Gum bleeding or bleeding from phlebotomy is not observed with recommended dose of eliquis when used for thrombophylaxis. INR, PT, PTT are not affected by eliquis. Your eliquis should work and in contrast you should pay concern when you have abnormal bleeding such as gum bleeding or prolonged bleeding after a small cut or phlebotomy.

i am to have a pt or ptt blood test checking for blood clotting (having 2 teeth pulled near future). last night drank 4 beers = 44.8 oz @ 5.6% alcohol ea, stopped drinking @ 9:30pm. how long would i need to wait to have the blood test please?

: You can have the blood tests in the morning.
Alcohol is a poison that never did anybody any good, ever, so stay away from it. It will destroy your brain cells, facilitate development of cancer in many organs, including breast, cause hepatitis, cirrhosis and pancreatitis etc. There is no safe level of alcohol intake. Quit while you are ahead.

How elevated?: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, elevated D-dimer while associated with thrombosis, is also seen in other disorders, e.g. inflammation.

can petechiae, unexplained bruises, light rectal bleeding, and heavy periods be indicative of vwd or clotting disorder? had 3 normal cbc's, normal pt/ptt/inr. doctor referred me to hematologist for suspected vwd. wasn't sure if vwd can cause petechia?

: Absolutely

vWD has many subtypes. Some cause virtually no abnormal bleeding at all, some cause bleeding only when “stressed” (taking aspirin, after period or delivery, after cut or surgery) and some (very uncommon) cause spontaneous bleeding- including into skin.
