That's safe: Using a quinolone for two weeks should be ok. I'm assuming the abscess has been drained. If, after a few days on the antimicrobial, you're not significantly better let your dentist know. Good luck.

Yes, but...: Root canal infections tend to respond better to other antibiotics,  such as amoxicillin, clindamycin,  or azithromycin.  You might get a benefit from the Cipro (ciprofloxacin) or bactrim, but they are not the typically accepted first options.

If you need it..: Cipro (ciprofloxacin) is an antibiotic and could be used for a toothache, like any other antibiotic.
But...Do you need the antibiotic.  If you just have a hole that is causing pain then you just need to get the hole fixed.  The problem that people are having today is that many docs used to just give antibiotics for any reason.  Now people are getting poorer results when they are needed.  Choose your useage  wisely.

Antibiotics: The question is not which one to choose.  The right questions are what has my doctor prescribed and will i take it.  I assume you have both of these left over from some other infection.  If that is the case then dispose of them in a responsible way.

Nope: 1) antibiotics are not pain killers.2) Cipro (ciprofloxacin) is not used for dental infections. 3) you don't even know if you have an infection. 

Stop trying to treat yourself and make an appointment with a local dentist... There is no way around it.

Cipro (ciprofloxacin)??: Cipro (ciprofloxacin) is usually not the antibiotic of choice for a tooth infection, but rather more serious systemic infection. Amoxicillin, clindamycin, Augmentin are much more common for tooth infection.  Question the prescriber about choice and duration. Antibiotic will not alone cure a tooth infection, treatment such as root canal or extraction of the tooth will usually be necessary for complete healing.

No: Cipro (ciprofloxacin) is not an antibiotic used to fight dental infections, and even if it were, it would not cure your dental problems. Please call a local dentist, make an appointment, and be treated. You cannot do this on your own, no matter what. Dental problems need to be physically corrected by a dentist.

Tooth: Better to get antibiotic for anaerobes, e.g.  Clindamycin. Look up the spectrum of coverage for Zithromax online.

i had 2 utis in 1 month. last day of cipro (5 day treatment) was yesterday. i have clindamycin that was just prescribed for a tooth problem last week, but i did not end up needing it. can i take ot to help prevent or treat uti?

: Clindamycin is not commonly used for urinary tract infections, do not use it for that reason. Would suggest treating and preventing further UTI's under the care of a physician, your PCP or urologist. The rapid growth of multidrug resistant bacterial strains is one of the main reasons, modeled by improper use of antibiotics.

I : I don't think this is the answer that you want to hear.  If your tooth is infected, you really need to see a dentist. Medicating yourself with antibiotics you have around the house is a dangerous practice.
