Reflux: One cause could be reflux with stomach acid reaching the mouth at night while lying down. This can result in a sore tongue , damage to the teeth, and possible damage to the larynx.A definitive diagnosis ma require a test with a GI doctor.

TMJ problems?: was there any difficulty with the biteblock, or did you gag/retch a lot? and rash - possibility of allergy to the strap?  i'd definitely let your endoscopist know.  might want them to use a pediatric biteblock should you ever need it again. you're already taking Advil (ibuprofen) so that should help.

Veins : Red vessels are arteries full of oxygen. Darker vessels are usually blue/purple veins. They are a different color due to their lack of oxygen. You can see them under your tongue because the mucosa layer covering them is very thin there. The tongue is a muscle, so pretty much anything regarding its natural size and shape is muscular in nature.

It is normal for some people to experience a burning sensation on the tongue while swishing Nystatin. This side effect should subside after a few minutes. The length of time it takes for Nystatin varies depending on the severity of the infection and individuals response to treatment.

: Call your local Dental Society. They can provide you with lists of Dentists with post-graduate degrees in Oral Medicine or Oral Pathology. Primary BMS' cause is idiopathic. Secondary BMS may be triggered by other medical problems, especially neurologic problems. Treatments are usually palliative.
