Topical anesthetic: Rinsing your mouth with a topical anesthetic should give you some relief while it is healing.  You should see your md or dds to make sure it's not something worse.

Sore in throat: Canker sores are rarely found in the back of the throat. That being said, If it is a canker sore, it will resolve itself in 7-10 days.
You should consult a dentist, oral surgeon or ENT specialist to confirm exactly what type of sore you have in your throat.
If it has lasted for more than 10 days, or if it has re-occured, have it checked ASAP.

Yes: No problem with this. Do not overdo it because you may make it worse. Warm salt water rinses (1 tsp/8oz ) 4-5 times a day really help. Dry the area with a Q-tip first then apply oragel or baby oragel with a Q-tip. Good Luck. Good to consider the effects on your baby.

Well...it's not good: Important to know how long its been there and your history with them.  If you get them frequently & they come and go and this is pretty normal for you, speak with your doctor about antiviral medications (could be a herpetic lesion instead).  If the lesion has been there longer than 2 weeks or if this is abnormal for you, see a doctor (dentist, ent, or oral surgeon) immediately.

If you can see it: And access it with a cotton swab, try a product called zilactin (many pharmacies carry).  Place a small drop on the small swab and apply a thin coating over the canker (grab on to something- burns a little at first....  )  let your dentist treat it w other medications or a laser if you can. 10-14 days is the usual course for resolution.  Good luck!

Aphthous ulcer: Try warm saline gargle for 1 week and it should resolve. Take advil (ibuprofen) or Motrin for the pain as needed.

Canker sore: It's possible you may have a viral infection which can cause both the sore and a sore throat. Or, they may not be related.
The canker sore should heal in 7-10 days. If the sore throat lingers for more than 3 days, see your medical doctor.

Canker sore: The sore throat may be an early viral upper respiratory tract infection or impending head cold. At this time gargle with warm water or suck on lozenges. For the canker sore, apply maalox  several times a day. If sore throat worsens rather than gradually improve, get a rapid throat culture to check for strep.

Canker sore: Go to the pharmacy and get some ointment to cover the lesion it will make you so much more comfortable
if that doesn't help see your dentist.
