A member asked:

Hello, i have a sore throat and what looks like a large canker sore on the back left side of my tongue. should i be concerned?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Canker sore: The sore throat may be an early viral upper respiratory tract infection or impending head cold. At this time gargle with warm water or suck on lozenges. For the canker sore, apply maalox several times a day. If sore throat worsens rather than gradually improve, get a rapid throat culture to check for strep.
