i have a horrible cold sore inside of my right nostril. i have also had right eye pain that has coincided with the cold sore. related possibly?

Cold sore: Nasal lesions and eye pain can be associated with viral diseases the most serious being Herpes Zoster or shingles.  Cold sores can also cause this.  Touching your cold sore before touching your eyes can cause eye infections.  Herpes Simplex infections could also cause this.  Serious eye infections eye damage can result.  Seek immediate medical attention if you have redness or decreased vision.

Yes, it is serious: You can most certainly get herpes simplex (the virus that causes cold sores) in the eye.  This can be serious, so if it happens, you must see your doctor to start oral medication right away. Do not delay.

i am a distance runner, when i run to a point of exhaustion eg increasing training distance and load. after 2 to 3 days i get a cold sore / blister on my face or lip. feel very fatigued, eyes are scratchy, very slight headache and feel irritable .

Oral herpes: I've not heard of vigorous or extreme exercise triggering oral herpes outbreaks (cold sores), but any body-wide inflammation and maybe stress can do it. Your other symptoms are probably just due to running to exhaustion, i.e. they are not herpes symptoms. Oral herpes outbreaks are effectively treated with a single oral dose of valacyclovir; or try taking it after running to prevent an outbreak.

No risk, no worry: Herpes is not transmitted through the air; no risk.  Also, are you sure you don't already have HSV1? No cold sores yourself? Many young children caught it from their parents. If you are the source of her infection, you are immune to catching it again.

Herpes transmission : Herpes is infectious  if mucus  membrane to  mucus membrane  contact. There is  a possibility  since the baby touched the mouth and then their eyes/ mouth and is 14 weeks . May  consider prophylactic  acyclovir by mouth since the baby is so young.The baby should be monitored for fever or pain  and if any signs  go to ER  Call the pediatrician today to discuss. Herpes is serious in babies.

Not necessarily : To avoid spreading the virus that causes cold sores, be careful to avoid touching the area around the sore and practice good hand washing. If the cold sore is new, your healthcare provider may prescribe topical or oral antiviral medications, which can help the sore heal more quickly and limit the amount of virus present.

: By theory it seems possible but not in reality. If that happens we will advise people not to wash their faces when they have cold sores, don't you think so?

Little or no risk: This is theoretically possible but extremely unlikely. In any case, at this point there is nothing that can be done to prevent it. If no symtoms (sore, red, may itchy eye) within 5 days, you're home free. In the meantime, I really wouldn't worry about it.

Have to be lucky: A lucky baby won't get eye herpes, but will just get it in the mouth or around the mouth. Babies touch their eyes often, but we rarely see babies get eye herpes. Life is just that way. That said, a baby in this situation might just take a nice long bath to get clean and then go enjoy the rest of his day. If he's a typical kid and lucky, he'll get no herpes this time or get the usual oral herpes.

my boyfriend touched his cold sore, didnt wash his hands, than touched my scalped to give me a head massage. can i get a cold sore on my scalp?

Possible: But very unlikely. Odds are you are already carrying this virus. If you kiss him when he has no cold sore you might get it anyway. The virus is present on the skin intermittently when it looks perfectly clear, between attacks. Most people are infected with no symptoms and are therefore immune. A blood test can tell you. Valacyclovir pills are very effective for symptoms.
