are there gi problems that can cause a herniated disk at l5-s1? like chronic constipation? i'm only 25 female and don't know how i got herniated disk.

Possibly: The point is that every symptom is connected, like "alarm bells" ringing in a complex system. It is not that the GI symptoms cause the disc. Yes: It depends what the MRI has shown. If the pain management doctor suspects that l5-s1 is a contributing factor, then it is prudent to inject both areas to one time rather than risk having you need to return for a second injection.

Evolving problem: Dysraphism issues vary by case & the initial surgery is focused at closing the defect while preserving as much function as possible.Open defects would be prone to invasive infection & permanent damage by germs so closing the defect affords some protection as the child grows.Spondylolisthesis & or cord tethering in later life is often seen in this patient group & relates to the original defects

: Not unusual over time to experience wear and tear of intervertebral discs, associated with desiccation and small tears in the annulus fibrosis.  This is reflected in imaging demonstrating the narrowing.  This may or may not be associated with pain and stiffness.  Physical therapy and exercise might be indicated.

Relief w/ back arch: Perhaps your problem is at the anterior aspect of your vertebral bodies, such as a disc bulge anteriorly.  When you are in heels, it causes your low back to arch back more.  That would cause distraction of the vertebral bodies at the anterior aspect relieving pressure on the anterior disc (but of course, putting more pressure on the disc posteriorly).

Sometimes: L5-s1 disc herniation can cause pain that radiates into the buttock, groin, back of the thigh, back of the leg, and into the foot. The groin pain can sometimes cause testicular pain. Other causes of testicular pain include testicular torsion, tumors, hernias, hip disease, etc.

Positional pain: Jennifer, it is not uncommon to alter pain originating form the L5/S1 disc level with changes in position or changes in footwear. Slight changes could be the difference between pain and no pain. Many people with lower back pain benefit from orthotics and shoe modification. I would encourage you to get further evaluated and consider PT which may provide additional methods to control your pain.
