And yes, is often cause for blood in stool.Now we must discuss treatment and prevention.I suggest that the cause is a hard stool.More fiber & exercise.No bathroom breaks longer than 10 min nor shorter than 5 min.Better hydration-the colon's job is to recover fluid-you are deficient.I hope this helps.

Usually not: Usually, blood from hemorrhoids is bright red; blood from bleeding in or near the stomach is usually black (this is termed melena) due to the effect of stomach acid on the blood.  It is possible for a blood clot to pass from the stomach to the rectum, resulting in black-colored stool predominantly on one side of the stool.

Colon cancer: At your age colon cancer is highly unlikely.  Hemorrhoids can cause your problem, and occur often with constipation.  Adjust your diet with more fruits, vegetables, carrots, lots of fluids.  To check on hemorrhoids you will need to see your doctor for a check up.

can hemorrhoids cause narrow stools? or my anus seems to always swell when i poop, like blood is filling around the anus. could be external hemorrhoids that swell up when i poop, can this cause narrow stools?

Stools: The fullness sensation is probably due to the hemorrhoids. The narrow stools is a function of many things - stool consistence, amount of stools, side of opening.

had banding and laser for internal hemorrhoids but been having difficulty healing cause of hard stools. i take fiber and stool softener twice a day, could the stool softener make it worse?

Soft stools: Fiber provides bulk to the stools but doesn't soften them much. Stool softener a like Colace have a mild effect. You should be taking stone fruits and their juices, consider PEG 3350 once or twice daily, milk of magnesia (magnesium hydroxide) once or twice daily. Your doctor can help provide guidance.

Anal symptoms: Such discomfort is more typical of mild inflammation of the rectum(proctitis) or anal fissure. Internal hemorrhoids can cause bright red blood in the stool. I feel a proctologist is very helpful in evaluating and treating this type of symptom.

Needs to be checked: Large blood in stool one time needs to be checked,it may be from the internal hemorrhoids but you need an exam and if indicated Colonoscopy even at your age.Consult your doctor or a gastroenterologist.It may ne a polyp,Colon cancer at your age is rather rare but not unknownand will be ruled out by colonoscopy

Possible: But not likely.  I would be concerned about other masses or a stricture or other anatomical defect producing your symptoms.  A general surgeon should be able to take a direct look with a proctoscope or flex sig to make sure there isn't something more serious going on.

Yes: Internal hemorrhoids can bleed frequently.  However, it would be wise for you to see a gastroenterologist and see about having a colonoscopy to be sure nothing else is bleeding above the level of the hemorrhoids such as a polyp.  If it is from the hemorrhoids, there is medicine to help stop the inflammation and bleeding.
