i've been prescribed lortab recently for pain,also prescribed xanax (alprazolam) took lortab 2hrs ago,when is it okay to have xanax (alprazolam) again?

I wouldn't recommend: Xanax (alprazolam) is sedating. Taking it with any pain pill with opiate type medication, only increases your risk of sedation. Many people have accidentally overdose by doing this. If you need to take a pain pill, wait at least 12-24 hours before you use a Xanax (alprazolam), even then, it still may not be safe to take the Xanax (alprazolam). I wouldn't recommend using both medicines while you need to use pain pills.

i am taking paxil (paroxetine) 10mg xanax .25mg and lortab.7.5mg and just wanted to make sure it's safe. i am taking them spaced out.

It is safe,: However, there are some drug interactions:
xanax and lortab both increase sedation and drowsiness. Paxil (paroxetine) decreases effects of lortab by slowing drug metabolism. 
Rec.: to consult with the prescribing physician for any side effects, concerns or instructions of use.

Can be: The combination may be prescribed cautiously to treat pain and anxiety. Because both drugs have depressant qualities, the patient should be cautioned and monitored.

please tell me how to wing off lortab and xanax! i'm used to taking up to six loratab 10ml a day, and up to 5 xanax 1ml a day. it has caused strife in my home and i have run out of money! please help! in patient therapy is not an option for me.

It : It sounds like you are an addict. Do you have some form of support? Recovery always goes better with support; i.e., narcotics anonymous.  Very few of the doctors I have worked with do outpatient  detox protocols with patients as it is risky.  At this point, recommend that you work closely with the doctor who has been prescribing the medications.

Seek help: Your son needs to find an addiction specialist. If he is unable to do this you may need to work on an intervention on his behalf. Talk to a professional to get help with this matter.

Very easy: These drugs are readily available from some physicians who may not be aware of the addiction potential of these drugs.

Be careful: Using xanax (alprazolam) together with serquel may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience some impairment in thinking and judgment.
Talk to your doctor before you do that.

Not a good idea: Xanax (alprazolam) interferes with the metabolism of steroids including Medrol and may cause a substantial change in blood level of medrol.

Accepted Answer

yes: Xanax (alprazolam) is in the class of drugs called benzodiazepines.  Effexor (venlafaxine) is a commonly used antidepressant.  Both are prescribed together without major drug-to-drug interactions.
